Color Challenge 132

Well, I have been able to get a few cards done. Getting out of the Christmas card making groove was hard, the color challenge was a perfect color scheme for Christmas so of course I had to do something different. So, my first Valentine’s day card!

Trying to get back at it.

Here we are about to start a new year. I am hoping to be able to post more often. I am pretty active on Instagram and Facebook with my creations but truth is I need to be adding more than just images. Maybe I’ll give vids a chance. Anyway, here is the most current sketch challenge from My Favorite Things.

Art Impressions Southwestern Christmas

Art Impressions – Southwestern Christmas

Yup! I live in the southwest. I usually am not super impressed with southwest stamp images. I usually think OHHHH it makes me sad we don’t get cute snowy stuff. Then at the convention, I was in the Ai Booth (I know, hard to believe NOT! – It was probably my third or fourth trip in the booth) and I looked down and this cute little set was there.

I fell in LOVE! It was that cute little cactus and the Jackalope. I mean really who doesn’t want an image of a jackalope that is adorable? Anyway. I was also playing with some not as traditional colors – not just red and green, I used pink and lime. (I know just a tonal difference but love how it looked together.)

On this piece, I used Copic markers. I wanted the lights to “glow” so I added a lot of ink to the bulbs then used the colorless blender to spread out the ink over the lines to give a glow. It’s a simple but perfect touch to the bulbs. I had fun with my MFT background stamp from last years release. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this card and maybe feel inspired. I linked to the Ai Stamps but I don’t get anything for sharing their products so feel free go to your favorite site.

Have a blessed week!

Birthday Project Challenge at MFT

HEY, Guess what! It’s my DD birthday today… What a great time to share this card with you. It’s not for her, but I may share the one I made her later.

Anyway, one would think I worked for this company, but I don’t. I just really love the stamps they produce.

The birthday challenge is to put a cat or a dog on the card… I put both. Here is the challenge . There are some super cute ones that have been done and the samples are adorable. Anyway, I am feeling the rainbow on the card I made but I usually do, because I love them.

Here is my entry for the Birthday Project this month. Let me know what you think. I will have some other cards to share

Teacher to Harry Potter

I saw another artist use the “Favorite Teacher” stamp from MFT (here) to make a Harry Potter look alike, so I of course lifted that idea. I also saw the Tim Holtz Hocus Pocus (here) template in a kit this month at Simon Says Stamps, so I go that and the whole time thinking of this card in my head. NOW, it’s not just the card, I was actually thinking of a few people that may like it. My daughter, my friends Laurie and Beka – they are all HP nuts. I love how this card came out and coloring it was a hoot!

MFT sketch challenge#456

Yup! I did another challenge. This one is a challenge for mostly because I struggle with hard diagonal lines. For me it’s just too much. So, I thought and thought about how I could make this sketch work. I finally came up with the card below. I first was going to use the vines to make the line but I didn’t like it. So, I went with balancing the hard diagonal line with the soft horizontal lines of the water color stripe mft background stamp. I worked with the principal of odds as well. I hope you enjoy my version of the sketch

My Favorite Things Sketch challenge #455

Hey howdy ho neighbors. I also managed the sketch challenge…I had to reverse the image on my Waffle Flower Media May. Which made a great image. I am thinking I’ll start posting more since I’ve gotten a craftroom again I have cards pouring out of me (knock on wood). Anyway, I have some other companies to share too so hold on to your notifications cause I will be posting more here at the Artistic Detail.

2019 Card Design Superstar Entry at MFT

Let’s face it, I LOOOOOVE MFT (My Favorite Things Stamps) I am here to tell you I have pretty much every stamp set available at this time. I love them because I love making CAS (clean and simple) cards and the sets make it so easy. Cute sentiments, adorable images and they are the perfect size for a CAS card. MANY card companies make the stamps too big or way too small and they are too small/big to bring balance to the CAS style. CAS uses a lot of white space and balance of color and weight. CAS to me doesn’t just mean an image in the corner and bam done. It means we find the balance and use white-space mindfully with weight of design. MFT Stamps makes it SOOOOoooOOOO easy because the make such amazing “sets” of stamps . ANYWAY, here is my final entry for the contest. My CAS card.

MFT 2019 Card Superstar Contest – Category 2

Okay, I color, A LOT. In fact, it is my favorite thing about card making. I use every kind of marker, pencil and other medium I can get my hands on. In this contest, I tried to show a little of everything. This entry is watercolor painting. My Animation entry is Copic and my CAS entry (next one I will post) is Colored pencils. I want everyone to know, you don’t have to have the most expensive things to color and enjoy your card making. I hope you enjoy this category as I am really working on my water coloring. I have begun taking classes and really like it. Here it is… the background is completely free hand. I also painted the pumpkin because I thought it would be nice to use it to blend the foreground with the background.
